Success!! Steps to installing Corel Linux until paride.o and spcd.o drives are supported on the Corel Linux install disk. (I am assuming that the fact the necessary components are not in the install CD... I even had to create the devices in /dev when the pcd.o file was installed correctly. 1. Install Debian from floppy!! Follow the instructions contained in http://www.debian.org/releases/slink/i386/install to install using floppies. You will need the resc1440.bin or resc1440tecra.bin, drv1440.bin or drv1440tecra.bin, and all the base14-*.bin files rawriten to disk. 2. After installing use dselect (you could probably use dpkg-ftp and other things as well but I am explaining the way I was successful) to load of the Corel Linux CD-ROM. There is one issue with deselect not being from the Corel distribution originally, it won't know how to handle the dists/corelllinux-1.0/corel/binary-i386 directory. Because of this I joined the corel directory as the non-US equivalent to debian. 3. Install the files that make corel different than debain from the list provided by Joey Hess @ Debian in the Weekly News. These files are: autofs_3.1.3-2_i386.deb gpm_1.14-3.deb login_980403-0.3.2_i386.deb passwd_980403-0.3.2_i386.deb kde-corel-admin_1.1-1254.deb kde-corel_1.1-1254.deb kernel-headers-2.2.12_corel.1.0_i386.deb kernel-source-2.2.12_corel.1.0_all.deb motifnls_2.1-5.deb (This is the unstable version, one rev out of date. - JH) navigator4_4.7-4_i386.deb (Corel specific. - JH) printfilter_1.2.deb (Corel specific, may be a ported redhat package. - JH) qmail-corel_1.03-1254.deb (I didn't install this because I use sendmail - JY) qt-corel_1.44O-6_slink.deb (Well marked as corel specific. - JH) samba-doc_2.0.5a-1_all.deb (The unstable version, 4 revs out of date. - JH) secure-su_980403-0.3.2_i386.deb (The unstable version, a little out of date. - JH) Plus a bunch of packages from xfree86-1, with version number 3.3.5-1.0.1. These are the unstable version of X, backported to slink. Corel fixed the FBDev problem anyone who backports X to slink must fix. NOTE: dselect will not install libraries from the corel folder in the proper sequence, so I had to run dselect, write down the problems, dpkg -i {deb file} the problems, and re-run dselect. I admit there is probably a better way and if you find it let me know in case I rebuild the laptop down the road (or should I say when). Now there is only fine tuning left to do. Hope this help some of you out there! John Yorke
