All I get is a flashing screen, what to do?

If you have installed allright, and this is after reboot, ctrl+alt+f[1-6] and run XF86Setup or xf86config as root. Alternatively, select the expert mode option and run XF86Setup or xf86config. If this is happening during install, and your card is supported, swap the card out and use a temporary card(one you might have lying around, or a friends) and install. Or, if this isn't an option, do a minimal install of debian linux, and install all the corel debs from your cd. mount the cd and run /XXXX/XXXX/dists/corellinux-1.0/corel/binary-i386/*.deb. This should work, but I haven't tested it.

I want to buy a new card for my computer, what should I get?

Get a card made by someone who supports linux and who develops for linux. I only buy 3dfx cards, but I was informed that nvidia has started drivers for thier chipsets. I would then say, if you are doing 3d only for games go 3dfx, and if you are doing other things, such as cad, go with the nvida. This is for the current generation chips, as the voodoo4 and voodoo5 will not have the same limitations voodoo3 and earlier have.

Ok, I have a 3dfx card installed, but I'm having problems using glide or running 3d programs, or my framerate is ridicuosly slow, what should I do?

Take a visit to 3dfx.glide.linux (newsgroup)

I have an nvidia or intel chipset video that is giving me problems, is there any hope?

sure is, go to the internet links and go to the nvidia or intel link to their drivers.
